Mailbag: Updates from our students

We’ve heard from some of the students we’re supporting in post-secondary education, supported by CES. Here’s what they had to say:

Joshua Namisi

Medical student, Uzima University, Leonard Wandili Scholarship recipient

I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous sponsorship of my academic journey. Your support has been instrumental in helping me pursue my educational goals and has made a significant impact on my life.

I am currently in fourth year, third trimester.

I'm grateful.

Thanks to your sponsorship, I have been able to focus more on my studies and engage in opportunities that enhance my learning experience. Your belief in my potential motivates me to strive for excellence and to give back to the community in the future.

I am truly honored to be a recipient of your support and am committed to making the most of this opportunity. Thank you once again for your kindness and investment in my future.

Glorious Sinyonyera Nabwoba

Bachelor of Science in Nursing, in process

Good morning, I hope you are doing great, I've written this to thank the CES organization and its management for giving me support. In secondary school, when I had a problem with paying my school fees since my parents couldn't afford to pay them, I was delighted to receive help (from CES). The help enabled me to complete my secondary school education well and scored an A-. I'm also happy to have been helped to join University where I'm undertaking the course 'Bachelor of Science in Nursing’ in which I'm expecting the best at the end of four years.

I also thank Madam Patricia for the inspirational quotes that I've been receiving because they've been very encouraging and impactful to my life.

I was called to my former school as a mentor to other students. I was guiding them through all subjects that I also studied. I was also given some classes where I was teaching Chemistry and Mathematics. My work here was so good and fruitful to many because of my familiarity to the students and so they had no fear of consulting me. I’m happy to have made many of them improve on their grades. As their role model, I made them achieve the best both morally and academically.

Ramadhan Kifworo

Editor’s note: Ramadhan is, like Glorious, a student CES supported in secondary school and now also in University. He participated in the Internship program. Here’s his report.

This to inform you that I have been aiding students in computer studies and mathematics at Navakolo Secondary School. My key roles were to help students change their mentality and develop a positive attitude towards academics, guide them on the importance of balancing subjects, and act as a role model to them.

During this time, I have interacted with many students who have different abilities both in academics and co-curricular activities, teachers and even the parents. I have worked very hard to help these students, using most of the weekends and holidays to be with them, which has led to a good benefit to them. Most of them have improved in mathematics and computer studies with other subject because of the guidance I offered.

Apart from teaching I have gained a lot of skills related to teaching which will be my profession in the next four years. I have learned how to socialize with students during lessons well as outside classroom, which has made me to understand them too. Much thanks to those whom we have working with, guiding me and students of Navakholo who have cooperated well during this journey. I also thank the school principal and the CES community for giving me chance to mentor students, and your efforts are very grateful to me.
